Student Testimonials

“TRiM was the stepping-stone I needed to get back into running in a healthy and supported way. Using exercise as a way to manage my mental wellbeing has been incredibly transformative and provided me stability and the chance to grow my strength and resilience in day-to-day life.”

Ellie

“The biggest factor in me managing my mental health this year has been the support and information that TRiM has provided, and I have developed a healthy relationship with exercise as a result. It has been an effective way of reducing unhelpful thoughts and I can now envisage a routine in which my mental health is well managed.”

Dillan

“I found TRiM to be a really good way to switch off from being in study and work mode, stressing about the future. Starting mindfulness running as a group with Mike was a great way to look after both my mental and physical health, which is good when as a student you feel you have limited time”

Hollie

About TRiM

TRiM is a unique mindful movement project dedicated to supporting healthier and more resilient student minds.

The project was funded in 2018 to provide group-based mindful movement sessions to students at the University of Warwick, introducing them to a mindful approach to running. During sessions, students learnt about applying mindfulness to movement and exercise in an accessible and inclusive way, while bringing those skills into everyday life as tools for supporting their mental health, wellbeing and study.

Since funding ceased in 2021, TRiM has been keen to develop and make accessible the themes, techniques and skills explored in group-based sessions available as resources and self-help tools, and went online in 2022.

Please browse the BLOG and RESOURCES sections to get a feel for the content – where you will discover practical information about how you can integrate mindfulness into your everyday life as tools for supporting your movement, exercise, mental health, wellbeing and study.

Whatever your level or experience or background, you are an essential part of the TRiM community, and we hope the site is a source of useful information, inspiration, encouragement and support.
